I have just been speaking to a company director who was moaning that the business was not doing that great. I asked him if he had updated his website lately, or did anything about his SEO. He said that he had a website, it looked ok, but hasn’t changed it or updated it in several years. I said that if he had a physical shop, would he ever update his window display, update his stock or even advertise that he was having an Easter sale. He replied of course he would. So I explained that the internet is the modern equivalent of his local high street and his website is his shop on the high street.
The penny dropped. So he said, if I want people to visit my website, I have to treat it like a shop and update it etc. I also explained that if I was to stand in the street and find out from everyone what they were looking to buy and then point them to his shop, did he think that would increase sales. He agreed that it probably would. That, I explained is SEO. Then he said, why didn’t I say that before and he signed for the service. So if you want a virtual person standing on the virtual street directing people to your virtual shop. Then talk to me about SEO
